Family & Eligibility Rules

Is there a minimum age requirement to sign this petition?

No, absolutely not. Canadian parliamentary rules allow any resident of Canada, including infants and children, to be represented. Securing our children's signatures is a powerful way to secure their future.

Can I use my personal email to sign for my spouse or child?

NO. This will invalidate the signature. The government database strictly requires one unique email per person. If your family members don't have emails, please take 2 minutes to create a free Gmail or Outlook account for them.

Is it okay if we all share the same home address and phone number?

Yes. It is entirely normal for households to share a physical address and phone number. The government only requires the Name and Email to be completely unique.

Immigration Status & Privacy Assurances

I am not a Canadian Citizen. Can I still sign?

Yes! Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents (PR), AND Temporary Residents (including those on Work Permits, Study Permits, or TS2023 status) are legally allowed to sign as long as they physically reside in Canada.

Will participating in this petition harm my pending PR or Visa application?

ABSOLUTELY NOT. The right to petition is a fundamental democratic right enshrined in the Canadian Constitution. Sending a respectful request to lawmakers will never penalize your immigration file. Furthermore, your participation remains entirely confidential; your employer or unassociated third parties cannot see your signature.

Are international students eligible to sign?

Yes. If you hold a valid study permit and are currently residing in Canada, you are considered a temporary resident and are fully eligible to sign the petition.

Technical Troubleshooting

I submitted the form, but I haven't received the confirmation email.

Don't panic. Check your Spam, Junk, and Promotions folders. If more than 15 minutes have passed, it is highly likely there was a typo in your email address. Simply return to the site and fill out the form again carefully.

The system keeps rejecting my Postal Code. Why?

Canadian postal codes must strictly follow the "A1B 2C3" alphanumeric format. Ensure all your letters are capitalized and there is exactly one space in the middle. Do not enter it as one long word.

When I finally clicked the link in my email, it said "Expired".

For security reasons, confirmation links expire if not clicked quickly. Go back to the main petition page, enter your details again, and the system will trigger a fresh, valid email to you.

I received a red error message stating "You have already supported this petition".

This means your email is already proudly in the system database. If you never clicked an email link, search your inbox for the original email sent to you. If you already clicked it a few days ago, your signature has been successfully gathered.

Petition Process & Impact

What happens when the petition reaches its goal?

Petitions that reach the minimum threshold of 500 signatures must be formally presented to the House of Commons. The Government of Canada is then legally required to provide a written response within 45 days. e-7288 has already surpassed the minimum, but the more signatures we gather, the greater the political pressure.

Who officially presented this petition to Parliament?

Petition e-7288 was officially authorized and presented by Member of Parliament Sima Acan. Supporting the petition empowers MPs to advocate for the TS2023 community continuously.
